Frequently Asked Questions

When do lessons run?
National Music Academy lessons run according to the NSW public school term calendar.

Lessons run from Monday to Friday from 2:30pm – 8:00pm, however outside of these hours lessons can be given by arrangement. During school holidays there are no classes. however there may on occasion be workshops or master-classes available.


Bookings
Weekly lessons are 30 minutes in duration and an allocated day and time are confirmed at the time of booking.

You are required to pay for the full term’s lessons at the commencement of each term.


Payments
Tailored lesson package fees and details are displayed on the Pricing page of this website and are inclusive of GST.
All lesson payments are to be made IN ADVANCE. Due to the fact that lessons are to be paid in advance, it’s not possible to refund lesson fees for any unused appointments.
There is no discount for a full term payment.

Casual Bookings
If you are not confident to commit to a permanent booking, we do offer casual lessons.
They are to be booked on a week-to-week basis and paid for when the lesson is booked.
We cannot guarantee the same day, time or teacher.
They are $45.00 per half hour.

If I have more than one child in lessons do I receive a discount?
Unfortunately no, the teachers get paid per student / per half hour.

It’s my first lesson, what do I need to bring with me?
You don’t have to bring anything but if you have your guitar you can bring it along, we provide the music and even instrument for your lesson.

Can parents or a friend sit in lessons on the lesson?
We have an open door policy allowing family or a friend to sit in on lessons if they wish to do so.

Can a guitar be provided at your lesson?
We can provide a guitar for your lesson if you wish.

Do you use a real drum kit?
We use a professional drum kit at our studio not an electric kit.

What styles do you teach?
We teach all styles including pop, rock, blues, country, jazz, classical, flamenco, folk, theory and more.

Do you teach students to read music?
We encourage students to learn to read musical notation. This comprises of tablature, music, rhythm and ear training. We do not solely focus on reading notation but combine it with what inspires you to play as part of your learning.

Do you offer AMEB and SUZUKI exams for students?
We offer both AMEB and Suzuki programs for students wanting to do grades.

Do you teach music theory?
We teach theory and also offer HSC mentoring.

What level and age can I start?
We teach from 5 years old right through to professional musicians who already gig.
We teach all levels and love seeing students grow and achieve their goals.
