Band Network Development Program
For students who are already comfortable on their instrument and want to develop ensemble skills and further their music in a social, fun environment, the Band Network Development Program is an option to extend students further.
A weekly 2 hour session takes place at our Newcastle Campus, currently held 7-9pm on Thursday afternoons. Students between the ages of 13-18 are taught about arranging music for a rock band, performing in a group, listening to other performers, selecting repertoire and are introduced to new instruments, gaining an understanding of each instrument’s role in the band.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
You’ll work with a group of other students to put together a set list of songs that you can perform as a band.
You’ll learn what role each instrument plays in the band, how they fit together, how to set up a PA and gear such as drum kits, amps and microphones, how to listen to other musicians in the band, how to harmonise vocals, how to arrange songs to fit your group and to fit into other genres, how to perform as a band on stage, and what makes a successful band.
Our band tutors are playing with some of the best bands and artists in the country right now, and will teach you what elements need to come together to make a band successful live. You’ll also have the opportunity to perform at our Live Lounges and Showcase, and other gigs as they become available.
Band network lessons are booked by the term only. Lessons are charged at a rate of $25 per lesson ($250 per term) for current NMA students or $38 ($380 per term) for new students.
